The true story of Molly Bloom, a beautiful, young, Olympic-class skier who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknown to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led people to believe.

For a film that prides itself on being based on a true story, Molly's Game often relies on moments that are too coincidental, too easy. Yet, there's nothing here to suggest that Sorkin won't eventually figure things out behind the camera.

I turned it off when she narrorates "on this notepad I had 9 names, some of the wealthiest and most famous people on the planet"... 9 names for a poker game with a 10k buy in with blinds at 50/100? The "wealthiest people" on the planet would never play a 10k buy in with a 100 dollar big blind. AWFUL WRITING.

The cast was great. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba were phenomenal. A tantalizing story of the slippery slope of the high stakes underworld poker world. The film also pulls back the curtain on the federal criminal justice process which was interesting. I ended up rooting for Molly by the end of the film. A good movie.
