Robert M Very well produced story of an exemplary human being who gave all for the betterment of the lives of hopeless and sick outcasts. All around great performances by all of the cast members. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was authentically told, had wonderful acting, and a good script. I was amazed at the extra actors found to portray lepers. The Catholic characters were portrayed well and intelligently. Everything about it was first-rate. David Wenham was great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Enlightening movie with some solid performances from some of the film industry's best known actors Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting movie, if not a particularly entertaining one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Frances H A very accurate and affecting biopic that raised my ire because the government and Church officials who should have supported Father Damian didn't even give him the donations given just for him and colony residents. It doesn't seem possible that the secular and sacred authorities could be jealous of the reputation and recognition of a man serving lepers and then dying of it himself, but such is the character of some who call themselves human. A stellar cast of supporting actors, but the film lacked a hard to define something to make it great. It's good, but not outstanding. Still worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/14 Full Review Audience Member David Wenham shines here in his role as Father Damien, the priest who risked his own life to help the lepers quarantined on the island of Molokai. The movie is stunningly filmed by Paul Cox. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
