BadNews R @TheMovieSearch Aug 28 Monster Party sets up with a really fun premise: three small-time con artist thieves decide to rob a fancy dinner party, only to discover they picked the absolute wrong people to mess with. What should’ve been a simple heist spirals into complete chaos, and on paper, that idea sounds like it could’ve been a blast. The problem is the execution. The script had flashes of potential, but it never really dug deep enough to feel impactful. Instead, it landed in this weird middle ground—watchable, but not nearly as wild or sharp as the concept deserved. The casting didn’t help much either. Most of the actors were unfamiliar, and while some delivered okay performances, others felt like they were drowning in the material. That uneven acting dragged the movie down and made the already shaky script feel even more awkward. The director tried to weave the story together, but a lot of things felt off—whether it was the writing, pacing, or character choices. It often seemed like pieces of the movie didn’t quite fit with each other, leaving the final product unbalanced. That said, there are moments of enjoyment buried in there. Certain sequences work, and the overall idea is strong enough to at least keep your attention for a first viewing. But beyond that, I can’t really see myself revisiting it or recommending it. Verdict: Monster Party had all the ingredients for a fun, bloody good time, but poor execution and uneven casting kept it from delivering on its potential. A one-and-done watch at best.
