Donald Clarke Irish Times The three actors play off one another with enthusiasm and the attractive locations are used with great imagination. It always feels like we are in a real place. It always feels like we are with real people. That's just about enough to be going on with. Rated: 3/5 Sep 6, 2017 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Unfortunately, this underpowered story is neither funny nor sexy enough to generate much narrative momentum. Rated: 2/5 Sep 3, 2017 Full Review Ed Potton Times (UK) Philip John's feature debut ends up being rather lovely, thanks to a light directorial touch and endearing performances from its three leads. Rated: 4/5 Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa An engaging, feel-good road movie with a lot of humour and an inspiring soundtrack. Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Katie Hogan VultureHound The most refreshing element of the film, aside from the picturesque landscapes, is definitely the casting of the three leads. Covering Ireland, Wales and Scotland, it shows the talent across the nations. Feb 4, 2020 Full Review Louise Burrell One Room With A View It's a fairly clichéd and all too familiar plot, but the three lead actors ensure that Moon Dogs avoids mundanity, and manages to create a sweet and funny film. isla s This started off as a fairly amusing watch but then it turned somehow more artistic in tone. Some of the situations are fairly slapstick in nature. The main characters are ok I suppose, slacker late teenage boys, slightly aimless though they are. At times it almost feels like their trying to be a Scottish inbetweeners type, with scenes featuring sexual content and there's a fair bit of strong language. Its a little cliched and not exactly greatly memorable but its ok. Its not especially amusing towards the end, it takes a more dramatic turn and it is a bit muddled but I suppose I'd cautiously recommend it, yes.
