Sandra H So great to see this movie classic on the big screen! I don’t remember seeing it in theaters originally. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Jennifer Practically perfect in every way. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Narciso R Love this movie, my favorite scene is between Cher, and the elderly lady putting a curse on her fiancé flight. NRJ. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Audience Member Fun movie. Cher is very good in it, didn't realize she acts. Cage is a little wild in it, but I liked it overall. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Jeff M Like a fine Italian wine, this comedy ages so well that it consistently finds itself moving farther and farther up my list of the best movie comedies of all time. This is arguably the summit of Cher's movie career, and while I can't say I'd give her the Oscar, I'm not mad about her win. She is funny, sexy and near-perfection (she exaggerates the accent a bit from time to time, but that's my only complaint). And the supporting cast is an Italian American delight! Dukakis, in her Oscar-winning performance, pretty much steals every scene in which she appears, and I especially love her scenes with the late great John Mahoney. And the music! THE MUSIC! Bookended by Dean Martin's irresistible "That's Amore" and containing some of the most beautiful opera music ever written, not to mention the perfect use of "Musetta's Waltz", it's an absolute dream to the ears as well as the eyes and the heart. John Patrick Shanley's screenplay is brilliantly observant, containing beautifully understated moments interspersed with the histrionics and grand gestures. A scene toward the end shows Cher, absolutely glowing, on a deserted street in the early morning hours, just kicking a can as she smiles and walks on air. By the end of this movie, I had the same feeling. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review David F A charming romantic comedy about some Italian American, regional-accented New Yorkers. Pauline Kael New Yorker Moonstruck isn’t heartfelt; it’s an honest contrivance -- the mockery is a giddy homage to our, desire for grand passion. With its own special lushness, it’s a rose-tinted black comedy. Sep 15, 2023 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) Earthy, immediate and very funny, this is enjoyable stuff. May 8, 2023 Full Review Leonard Maltin Video Review Moonstruck made me laugh, as any good comedy should. But this rare and wonderful movie did something more: It also made me smile. That's because, unlike most contemporary comedies, Moonstruck isn't a collection of gags. It's a picture of genuine humor. Rated: 4/4 Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This is a weird film. Outside of some strong scenes with the family, the performances are all over the place. Rated: 2/5 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn I expected this to be a lot better given the accolades it received. When it aims to be a comedy, it falter. When it embraces itself as a family drama, the story and the characters thrive. Rated: 2/5 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Nutty ethnic romantic drama about an Italian-American family. Rated: C+ Apr 28, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
