Pauline Kael The New Yorker Moonstruck isn’t heartfelt; it’s an honest contrivance -- the mockery is a giddy homage to our, desire for grand passion. With its own special lushness, it’s a rose-tinted black comedy. Sep 15, 2023 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) Earthy, immediate and very funny, this is enjoyable stuff. May 8, 2023 Full Review Leonard Maltin Video Review Moonstruck made me laugh, as any good comedy should. But this rare and wonderful movie did something more: It also made me smile. That's because, unlike most contemporary comedies, Moonstruck isn't a collection of gags. It's a picture of genuine humor. Rated: 4/4 Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Mary Kassel Screen Rant Hilarious, romantic, & quietly lush, Moonstruck doesn't just hold up today. It's the kind of movie built to last, the kind we don't see anymore. Rated: 10/10 Mar 14, 2025 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This is a weird film. Outside of some strong scenes with the family, the performances are all over the place. Rated: 2/5 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn I expected this to be a lot better given the accolades it received. When it aims to be a comedy, it falter. When it embraces itself as a family drama, the story and the characters thrive. Rated: 2/5 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Dean M Cher's best role and when it was fun watching Nicholas Cage be a wolf Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Joe G Always liked the movie, but seeing it on big screen really made a difference for me. Loved it, recited some of the lines with the characters too! Always fun! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Sandra H So great to see this movie classic on the big screen! I don’t remember seeing it in theaters originally. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Mason M A really wonderful romantic film, though I don't think it was very effective comedically, it works very well as a dramatic piece. What struck me most about this film was its spiritual look on life full of longing and plenty of yearning. The stuff about the moon was truly magical, and the introspective monologues in here were riveting. This is a nice and great romantic film that I really enjoyed far more than I expected. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review MaryAnn T I loved this movie when my father and I saw the matinee run at a small, independent local theater. That was in 1987 when it first came out. I still love it, and watch it at least once a year, my father passed in 1994, and I watch it myself but it always reminds me of that matinee, and the two of us laughing often, and how both of us left the theater smiling. Director, Norman Jewison, deftly walked a comedic fine line assuring we laughed with, rather than at the the sheer, boisterous Italian-ness of this family. It never crosses.the border, the truly stellar cast never turns this close knit, Sicilian-American family into a silly caricature, it's heart is genuine. A true gem. Just watch it. Moonstruck doesn't disappoint. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Ann W One of my all time favorite movies with a stellar cast, great writing, the inspiration of the moon and the love of family. Will never get tired of this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
