Audience Member provides some insight into life in rural russia in 1916, but not much into the addiction that is central to the film. yeah, one injection, then another, then he needs it more, blah blah. the amputation scene (i was getting quite worked up about it waiting for it) was quickly over- just a big hunk of pork roast getting sawed in half. is that because i don't have to mentally separate a human leg and a animal leg in my mind, so it was no worse than someone carving a roast at the dinner table? hmmmm. interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film that manages to be equal parts beautiful and grotesque. The attention to detail is nothing short of amazing, and the direction is incredible. The best addiction film I've seen since Requiem For A Dream. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member tragic and kind of funny and really really good. but i had to cover my eyes for a couple of the more graphic medical scenes.
