alison c Amusing mockumentary about Morris dancing written and performed by knowledgeable aficionados of the English folk scene. The initial introductions to the characters are pure joy and the in-jokes in the first half of the film keeps the giggles bubbling under. It felt a little lost when the action switched to America, but ended back in England with the pub scene / folk / Morris dancing finale one would wish for. It reminded me of The Detectorists, with its gentle English self-deprecating humour. Plus it's very clear that the lead actors really can dance well. Derek Jacobi popped in a star-turn as the strait laced head of the Morris Circle, desperately trying to prevent change or evolution. Best watched with Morris dancers and wookey hole cider. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Amusing mockumentary on Morris Dancing, though a bit light on actual dancing. Worth watching! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolute genius. Havn't laughed so much for ages Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was ok. My parents didn't like it at all... The initial idea was a funny one, but it got drawn out over the whole film and it was slowly reduced to nothing. The first five minutes were very entertaining, and then the jokes were reused over, and over again. Not recommended unless you like the sort of dry, ironic humour this specializes in. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely first-rate mockumentary about the racy and divided world of Morris dancing. Terrifically acted and directed, it is witty, visually rich and has a great cast and an atmospheric soundtrack. It's like a rural, British Strictly Ballroom and is both funny and touching and also beautifully observed. Hats off to Lucy Akhurst, with bells on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member a atempt at a mockumentery taking potshot at morris dancers and the politics involved, it isnt funny, even though theres a lot of humour aimed at the dance, one or two chuckles along the way, and the last half hour or so, taking in the u,s and one mans journey there making it big, doesent do it much good at all.
