Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The question, of course, of why anybody of any age would possibly want to see this film remains without an answer. Jonathan O Mother's day is The Hills Have Eyes meets The Last House The Left meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a holiday slasher with dark comedy and shockingly good violent make-up effects and Charles Kaufman did really good job directing a holiday slasher and the cast are terrific but the writing is a bit off for the characters and some jokes are good and others are like "huh" like we don't get the joke but I really fun and perfect to watch this holiday cult classic slasher for all mother's for their mother's day to enjoy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review christopher c. m The low budget doesn't the movie bad. The bad writing, the acting and climax makes it bad. Tone whiplash means noting to Charles Kaufman. Act 1 is "Animal House" and without warning Act 2 and 3 turns into "I Spit On Your Grave". I was expecting a slasher movie, not rape porn. No explanation or backstory on why these people are they way they are. And the worst crime... SPOILER WARNING!!!! THE OTHER SHOE ENDING! IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED STOP READING: Two of the three girls get their revenge on their tormentors but killing them brutally. But there was a feral sister that mentioned earlier jumps out and kills them, I'm guessing. They don't show it. There was no point to it, it was disturbing but not horror so it's not, "It's a horror movie, it has to end badly." Excuse and there's no sequel potential with the other 3 dead. Was this made in the 70s when all horror movies ended badly and sat on a shelf because it sucked? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This horror comedy fits into a so bad it's good category. It's full of hilarious Slash stick comedy and lovable villians. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/22 Full Review alvin a This is an extremely misunderstood and migrated work. I'm reminded of the extreme reaction New Yorkers/East Coast US Conservative type had towards a different type of art form and medium, a beautiful musical play called West Side Story. Not exactly met with the raves and open arms.it should have been. originally, due to the unsaid but unacceptable subject of an interracial love affair and the fact that even critics, after all. are human beings subject to social 'norms'. It's easy to see how this storyline would get many proper people's garments wrinkled uncomfortably making an objective or better insight be.in the reviews. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review steve d No scares and little plot. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review william k Hysterical slasher deliberately made in bad taste and soaked in barely recognizable black humor is obviously palatable to a limited audience only.
