This was just awesome to watch. Great chemistry onscreen and the characters had so much depth it was amazing to watch. The film started with some hilarious one shots by Tyler Labrine before taking a very strong dramatic stance for the second half. This is exactly why I love cinema and indie cinema the most, treasure films like this. I grew up with strong banter films and this has great moments of humour as well as a giant heart. Really happy to watch this film and look forward to what these cast and crew move onto next. Films like these help you realise that crappy hollywood blockbusters aren't crowding shelves, can't recommend this highly enough.

I'll never understand how someone as untalented as Kevin James is more famous than Tyler Labine, an infinitely more talented and likable comedic actor. All James is good at is pretending that he's likable. Maybe it's all about knowing the right people, since James is friends with Adam Sandler. Though, to be fair, maybe Tyler is more than content doing these independent comedies and I'm more than fine with that, because I do think he thrives in this setting. And this movie is no different. It's not like this film is amazing or anything, but, at the very least, it offers a good showcase for both Tyler and Chace Crawford to show more of their 'serious' side as it were. The film is a basic story of two estranged brothers reconnecting again while also trying to survive the elements after they burn down their deceased father's cabin. Of course, there's the usual stuff you would expect. Cooper decided to leave his small town life in exchange for life in a big city like New York and how he, somewhat, abandoned his family when they most needed him, at least once Coop's father started displaying certain signs of mental health issues. So it's not that this isn't a movie that you haven't seen before, but it is a good one nonetheless. The acting is good and the writing is more than solid. The film might have felt a little slapstick-y with the whole fighting against the elements while Coop and Toph start to bond as brothers for the first time in years, but I think the film found a good balance. It's got some good heart and some interesting interplay between the brothers as the film slowly peels back its layers and you understand more of who the characters are and why they've done the things they've done. The film tries to give its characters some semblance of depth. It's not like they're super complex, but at least there's something here. The film does have a lot of heart. At a little over 86 minutes, the film seems to fly by, which is good. Better to leave them wanting more than have them be sick and tired of you. So, yea, this is a good movie in the long run. Might not have been outstanding, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's got good writing and a more than game cast, so I can't complain much. Would recommend it as a Netflix watch.
