John Anderson Wall Street Journal The directorial choice is to use animation in many instances, just to break up the interviews and archival footage... which is amusing enough. But what it all amounts to is a story of arrogance, strategic misrepresentation, and/or a massive scam. May 31, 2024 Full Review Alissa Wilkinson New York Times Streaming services are loaded with documentaries about scammy internet-era companies, but “MoviePass, MovieCrash” finds the barely told story in all the juicy facts. May 31, 2024 Full Review Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com If there's a flaw to "MoviePass, MovieCrash," it's that these elements hardly elevate it beyond the boilerplate documentary structure formulas. Rated: 2.5/4 May 31, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) It’s a paint-by-the-numbers explainer, but the perspectives and anecdotes are still appreciated in trying to understand how all of this went wrong. Jul 3, 2024 Full Review M.N. Miller InSession Film MoviePass, MovieCrash provides a thorough and entertaining coverage of the fraud, offering a nostalgic, enlightening, and frustrating trip down memory lane. Kyle M MoviePass never came to mind besides a brief word-of-mouth amidst its final limitations stemming lesser interest, distant from its heyday whilst curiosity piques over the risen then fallen brief phenomenon. This passionately-lined documentary fascinates with answers, as well engages over the unexpected criminal aspect after decently though minimally clarify the business portioned stakes, stirring own critical questions then unveiling structurally financial flaws. (B+) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Megan e This is a really good documentary that shows the actual origins of Moviepass and how a great idea crashed due to corporate greed. Definitely worth watching! 5 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Liam M Would've been better as a half hour YouTube video. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review Keizi C Straight forward, short and simple. Was very intrigued to know what happened and I’m glad I clicked play on this. Now I despise two people and know what that card was that my mother would pull out at the movies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Tristan C A very well made and perfectly presented documentary. Kept my interest from start to finish and the way movie clips were used throughout was very well done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Yvette Z Such a well made documentary. Informative, shocking, fascinating characters, social commentary and surprisingly emotional. What the original founders of Moviepass had to go through - so great this doc shed light on their hero's journey. Very inspiring and satisfying ending too.
