in an odd way, the documentary shows us that Mozart's spirit is still very much alive. the odd is in fact people's "love" for him and his music. fans might be an understatement for the people shown in the film. from mozartkugel to mozart-like music regenerated by "experiments in musical intelligence" and from a woman who thinks she is mozart reincarnation to a depression patient who claims that talking to mozart helped him... at times, it's a little too much to take in at once; yet, it's interesting to see the love for mozart in a rather extreme form and how they found their own meanings of life through "mozart".

If you can get over one of the worst-designed DVD covers of recent memory, you'll find an extremely watchable documentary which at first seems like nothing more than a disparate collection of Mozart-obsessed oddballs...and yet the more time we spend with them, the more it becomes clear that Mozart isn't the point, but rather the agency through which they've found meaning in their lives.

This was a bit of a wild film about people who are OBSESSED with Mozart. I mean, sure, teens can be obsessed with the acts of the day (that would be, right now, Panic! At the Disco), so why NOT there be people obsessed with a long dead composer? The director REALLY chose some live ones here. A couple of them, like the astronaut guy and the Mozartball chocolate factory were okay, but the composer guy, who creates a 'new' Mozart symphony, and that woman in Oklahoma who thinks she's reincarnated as Mozart has also apparently found Mozart's girlfriend reincarnated! Then they go to Vienna and start WEEPING about you know, where they met, where Mozart died, etc. It's all quite quite silly, and was a fun omnibus of silliness.

A wonderfully moving and insightful film on how Mozart has uniquely impacted the lives of some equally unique and extraodinary people. One can't help but feel compelled to empathize with and unravel the deeper stories and passions of each subject.
In my opinion, the special features on the DVD should have been part of the main feature. I'm glad they were included at the very least!
The only downsides are the garish cover design and that we did not get to explore each person a little further, but then a good story always leaves you wanting an encore.
Overall I believe that, given the singularity of each person and the passion with which they are influenced by or pursue their particular interest in Mozart, he would be very proud of this production.
