Yashaswini Sri The Indian Express 18h
3.5/5
It is controlled, confident in its genre, and anchored by a Sree Vishnu performance that deserves to be seen. But it is also a film that sets up a more satisfying conclusion than it is willing to deliver. Go to Full Review

The film remains intermittently intriguing but never quite realises its potential to become a standout crime drama. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 21h Mrithyunjay is a film that struggles to deliver a satisfying theatrical experience. While it shows flashes of potential, the execution significantly undermines the story and overall engagement. One major issue is the sound design, which is inconsistent and often overwhelmingly loud, making it difficult to focus or enjoy the film in a theater setting. The narrative is convoluted, relying heavily on subtitles, forcing viewers to read constantly instead of fully absorbing the performances and cinematography. This distracts from the emotional impact and makes connecting with the characters a challenge. Although there are occasional coherent moments and glimpses of strong cinematography, they are fleeting. Performances feel muted, overshadowed by the film’s technical issues and pacing. Ultimately, Mrithyunjay is a missed opportunity. Its ambitious ideas are lost in execution, and the combination of sound problems and subtitle dependence makes it frustrating to watch. Much like that film here too the mind games between protagonist and antagonist play a crucial role. The second half is especially solid with a refreshingly different Sree Vishnu.
