The Great Indian Kitchen did a sensational job of dispassionately recording the indignities the women in an Indian home... Kadav’s film tries to replicate the same, but isn’t able to do so with a guttural intensity. Go to Full Review

Shivang C May 3 It's a remake of great Indian kitchen, a malayalam film. The movie was made by communist leader and faced backlash by the audience due to below human portrayal of Hindu families. Just a below the belt film with absolutely no mettle in it. With so many divorce and fake cases of alimony going around , this movie is a perfect weapon to intimidate people against the concept of marriage. See more Krishna S Mar 16 One of the worst movie made till date on feminism.. See more Tarek A Mar 6 This movie has hit a nerve unlike any other in recent years. Social media and forums are ablaze. I find this controversial work to be mandatory viewing for any woman living in a backward society where men consider women to be household slaves. Any girl marrying into a traditional family should be absolutely certain what they are getting into. Details like who does what in the kitchen are critical, though it seems they can be worked out later. Richa, the main character, shows mountains of patience in dealing with an oppressive, backward-minded, unappreciative, and animalistic father and son duo, who try to crush her spirit and agency, and above all, find saying thank you harder than breathing. As the movie continued, I found myself getting steadily angrier until the final climax and rupture, which ended her oppression perfectly. As a man who works around the home, and the father of daughters, I categorically reject the way in which Richa was treated in this movie. It is evil and heinous. Any man who thinks this is normal is not really a man. A woman who falls into such a miserable situation must extricate herself. Prescreening of mentality is essential. I am glad to see laws now allow women to escape such situations with compensation, but overshooting and overcorrection are also dangerous. A must-see movie. See more Saayandeep B Mar 5 I am out of words...watching this movie itself is a torture on a normal healthy mind also...it was a great descision to make this masterpiece... Each and every single Indian should watch this very movie...too important film for this and previous generation's people... A must watch for every Indian man Besides, great acting, great direction, great screenplay, great dialogue delivery.... In my opinion #MRS. SHOULD GET A NATIONAL AWARD THAT IT DESERVES See more Feb 25 Beautifully made social commentary on the state of Indian married women. See more Waniya S Feb 21 Would have liked a bit of revenge and also disappointing end because he remarried and nothing changes in his household like why he should be SUFFERING like our girl did!
