An ideal pairing of Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Proof that the Academy has always a reserved a certain quota of its major nominations for films for which I doubt even their makers wished profoundly to be remembered. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE Aug 14 Interesting that in the middle of WW II Hollywood produced similar movies about family problems of the American aristocracy. The story is not very memorable, but it provides a good exposure for Greer Garson, who I admit I totally ignored although she had a stellar career with many nominations for Best Actress and one win. See more Ronald F 10/10/2024 Mrs. Parkington is a lavish and beautifully crafted film, brought to life through the expert direction of Tay Garnett and the impeccable performances of Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. The production, in all its grandeur, transports viewers to the opulent world of high society, with stunning period costumes and elegant sets that perfectly encapsulate the era’s splendor. It would have been truly spectacular in color. Greer Garson, in particular, delivers a commanding and nuanced portrayal of the resilient and charming Mrs. Parkington. Her performance captures the complexities of a woman navigating the excesses and follies of the wealthy, adding depth to the film’s exploration of privilege, power, and moral dilemmas. Walter Pidgeon’s strong presence complements Garson’s in a way that elevates the emotional stakes of the story. Together, they create a powerful and moving narrative, seamlessly weaving through the trials and triumphs of the Parkington family. The film offers not only a spectacle of riches but also a thoughtful reflection on the personal cost of wealth and the enduring strength of character amidst it all. It is a classic in every sense, with Garson’s performance being the true heart of this splendid cinematic experience. See more steve d 07/22/2020 Forgettable and there was little plot. See more ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 12/10/2018 Mrs. Parkington is an excellent film. It is about a widowed matriarch who reminisces about her family fortunes, including her romance with a financier/mine owner. Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Tay Garnett did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Mrs. Parkington is a must see. See more s r @ScottR 05/03/2017 A cute romance about rags to riches and husband wife struggles. It grew on me. See more 07/20/2015 Good classic movie. Nice story that moves fast through the lives of a family of a rich guy meets poor girl drams. Some of the characters were hard to figure out who they were such as Amory - the corrupt money-hungry guy. Or, what was Peter Lawford's role? Anyway, fun money to watch without bad language, sex, violence and vulgarity of 2015 movies. See more Read all reviews
