Fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, Mulan takes his spot -- though, as a girl living under a patriarchal regime, she is technically unqualified to serve. She cleverly impersonates a man and goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon, Mushu, she uses her smarts to help ward off a Hun invasion, falling in love with a dashing captain along the way.

Exploring themes of family duty and honor, Mulan breaks new ground as a Disney film while still bringing vibrant animation and sprightly characters to the screen.

Mulan marks a sumptuous return to top form, and it can stand comparison with anything done in the classic era of Disney animation. Back then, Snow White dreamed that some day her prince would come. Today, the prince would not find Mulan waiting for him. Go to Full Review

The color palette is stunning, the attention to detail exquisite and the merger of computer-animated epic scenes with intricate, hand-drawn passages is seamless. Go to Full Review

Mulan is beautiful. It soars, laughs and cries. It's as delicate as a late-blooming cherry blossom and as solid as the Great Wall of China. Go to Full Review

This lovely, energetic and painterly film, based on an ages-old Chinese legend about a young warrior heroine, is one that achieves a nearly perfect blending of elements -- adventure, romance, comedy, music and art -- that define the genre. Go to Full Review

MC R @RT91491190 3d I though let's rewatch the original Mulan movie. Around the pandemic when the Live action version came out I watched it, but never took a chance to rewatch the original animation. To be honest I don't remember anything from both versions. But I loved to rewatch this one now! It's a great animation movie! Funny Ming-Na Wen as Mulan was great, she's a bad ass actress. I know her especially from Agents of Shield! I though always that she was great in the show! So I was excited when she entered also the Star Wars world! Wen brought Mulan home, she really did a great job. I always loved Eddy Murphy as Mushu. How cool that Pat Morita is also in the movie. I've have to say I love the grandmother. So funny Mulan is a great movie and I love that I decided to rewatch this today! See more Bret M @BretM-3 3d Y’know what, I liked this movie a lot more than I remembered. It has really good, classic 90s Disney animation that, really reminds you why you miss 2D Animated movies. I also think that Mulan and Mushu are just fun protagonists that make the movie all the more enjoyable. But what I really didn’t remember about this movie but was pleasantly surprised by was the music! This movie’s got some really catchy musical numbers, and a pretty good score too! So yeah, this movie was definitely better than I remembered!
