However, Mum, is never far from the family's mind as they quote her often especially when arguments need to be won. Jim falls in love with Anna. Jon L A lovely little film. I use the word 'little' as a huge compliment. Mum Said, benefits from it's small scale ensuring an intimate portrayal of a family going through grief, turmoil and change. It shows what can be done with heart, passion, talent and a good story. The performances all round were very good. However, it is Suzanne Fulton, whose character has to find favour with a particularly trying child, who steals the show. She seems to say so much without words thanks to a lovely nuanced performance. A special mention too, for the great score - sparing, yet quirky, intelligent and emotional, without ever overpowering the story.
