KEVIN C Long after the television show ended we were treated to a couple of tv movies reliving the fun of the show. Here Herman and Grandpa Munster get in trouble with the law and must clear their names when a robbery takes place by robots that look like them by the guy who runs the local wax museum. As a fan of the show this was pretty fun, although this focuses mostly on Herman, Grandpa and Marilyn, it would have been nice to see more of Lily and Eddie as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/10/22 Full Review Audience Member Some classic movie love it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I mean.. it wasn't bad. But wtf was up with Lily? she didn't even care about Herman. She hardly had any feature as well, he was completely dull and done nothing but stand around. She used to be a very 'I'll DEAL WITH YOU" sort of character. Did Yvonne not want to do much in this movie? And WTF was up with the new Marilyn growling Eddie? She was never like that (by the way, the reason for the new casting of Marilyn and Eddie is to do with age and the Munsters apparently had their ages frozen?!?!). All the characters were nothing like their former selves. I thought Grandpa was alright, but yelling to turn into a bat? Herman was... so-so but no one was like their usual characters. YES YES I know the show was 1965 and this was 1981... just was really disappointed in the characters. I do think Fred tried hard because he DID demand high pay for this movie (he didn't want to do it because he regretted doing the show for being type-casted). The Phantom of the Opera was annoying as hell. And wtf was up with Igor suddenly being in a castle as a human??? There was just these ridiculous stupidities like that.. such as Herman and Grandpa trying to get into their own home TWICE by going up a tree for no apparent reason (were hiding, but why go back there twice?!?!) and the boyfriend of Marilyn not caring about what Herman and Grandpa look like??!. I did like the funny Grandpa and Herman parts like them dressed up as women though and a few things... but it is nothing like the show itself and the first movie (which was stupid as well, but at least Lily had her tv show character!!!). I guess it was a lot age related, writer related and nearly 20 years later. I did not mind the new Eddie and Marilyn because they are my least favourite characters anyway (my faves happen to be Grandpa and Lily :P). Not sure if I would ever see it again. I still love the munsters very much Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best representation of the Munsters, but Fred Gwynne was fantastic! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is riduclous! That's exactly what I love about this piece of "guilty pleasure". It is easy to condemn this film for not including Butch Patrick (the original Eddie) and Pat Priest (the original Marilyn). But look at the year and workout the math, Pat and Butch had long outgrown their parts! Time sadly does that young stars. Yvonne DeCarlo who reprised her role as Lily, was pushing the big 6-0 (even though she still looked fab and was still perfect for the part). It's ashame that she was hardly in it as much as Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis in the role that made them so famous! Their chemistry was what brought the original series to life after "Car 54, Where Are You?". Though this film doesn't measure up to te original series, it still measures up nicely and is one of the better "reunion" TV specials that plagued and the boob-tube during the 1970s/early 1980s. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great nostalgia of a TV series that I love, but not as good as I remembered them to be Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
