Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times An amusing riff on the way one's creative work bleeds into one's personal life... Simmons expresses a singular voice and style. Apr 3, 2018 Full Review Matt Fagerholm RogerEbert.com [A] provocative feature directorial debut. Rated: 3/4 Jan 12, 2018 Full Review Guy Lodge Variety Short, sour-sweet and content to leave ideas and characters trailing in the summer breeze, "My Art" has evidently been made strictly on Simmons' terms, however wafty those may be. Jan 12, 2018 Full Review Alina Cohen Hyperallergic Shine's collaborators are more like playthings than serious romantic interests, and it's fun to watch them fall under the artist's spell and take her orders. Feb 6, 2020 Full Review Cathy Brennan One Room With A View In every scene it's clear which feeling Simmons is trying to evoke, so it's all the more frustrating that she fails in every attempt. Rated: 1/5 Mar 26, 2019 Full Review Amelie Lasker FF2 Media With a casual pace and some particularly poignant and funny moments, My Art is a quiet enjoyment. Rebecca D I was expecting from the description a rather sad and depressing film. It was neither. But it's not a film for everyone. It's a story well told and very well played out. Interesting characters, gorgeous setting, cool dog, and an excellent story. I would love to see more films like this in the world but Hollywood doesn't have the patience or insight to do something as exquisite as this. Thank you to all who contributed to the making of this treasure. I absolutely loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Great concept! Alas, Simmons was so stilted and boring that it took all the work on the part of the other actors just to keep the piece afloat. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
