Nicklas S this movie made me cry. I crode and laughed and lost 5 pounds. My compliments to the chef (director) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Audience Member This is an insipid movie. A boy's dog disappears through a portal to another dimension. The boy is understandably concerned. The dog soon returns with strange markings on his collar. The boy has completely odious parentsï¿ 1/2"an alcoholic, bumbling father, a depressed mother who is hooked on sleeping pills, and an older sister who is generally hostile. Conveniently, the parents happen to be highly educated in space-related disciplines (but unemployed). A couple of antisocial bullies add some tension to the story, I guess. Oh, an itinerant fisherman helps out but is plagued by hypersensitivity to electronic signals which gives him bad headaches when he is around cell phones. The portal threatens to wreak awful havoc for some reason. Eventually, everything is wrapped up neatly and happily; one had the feeling that they were in a hurry to wrap up. The boy (Logan Borsari) and fisherman (Philip Van Lear) turn in creditable performances despite a paper-thin script. Incidentally, no space travel by the dog or anyone else takes place.
