Viviana P @RT50333290 4d I’m currently 17 minutes in and had to look up reviews to see if people were thinking what I was thinking. They were! After reading more comments I found out she brought in one of her grandfathers victims for an interview?! I’d say making them recount what happened to them is equivalent to what your grandfather did because she is profiting off of this documentary. I didn’t finish watching the documentary after reading several comments I felt like she would make the whole thing insufferable to watch. I may be wrong to say this but how does being related to him change your life?? It’s one thing to be related and close to a serial killer and another to find out your very estranged grandfather was a serial killer. Cherry on top is no one would’ve linked her to him until SHE made this documentary. All for what? To jumpstart her career 😩 there could’ve been so many ways to approach this but it only took me 17 minutes to realize she’d make it about herself. After endless self pity and footage of herself crying, exploiting her own father who does not want to participate in her film by airing conversations that he clearly did not want recorded, the film maker sits down with Dianne Lake who recounts statutory rape by Manson at age 14 before enduring forceful sodomy rape at 15. The film maker reflects, conflates Manson with her father, helping the audience bridge the leap by putting childhood pictures up while discussing the sodomy rape of a 15 yr old, then seemingly equates an argument with her father with - again, for emphasis - the sodomy RAPE of a 15 yr old, stating "WE didn't deserve that". WE! Maybe psychopathy and narcissism is inheritable after all. Making a film for self pity is 0/10. See more Sarah R @sarahryan42 Aug 13 I found this to be one of the most distasteful and unnecessary "documentaries" to have ever been made. It basically made a mockery of the horrific things that Charles Manson did & who he was. The fact that this "granddaughter" decided to take Manson's mother's maiden name as her legal name, often referred to Manson as her (own) father & even seemed to be absorbing his disproven psycho-babble is worrisome (at a minimum). The worst part? She paid no respect to her father and his wishes (and pain) and made a mockery out of this excruciating history for him and for many, many other families. I would suggest that Ms. Maddox do some emotional maturing before she takes on another project. My guess is that she has burned enough bridges for one lifetime. What an utterly thankless, self-absorbed, and childish human being. We are not playing tiddly-winks here. Next time, save your tears for the true victims - you are not one of them.
