Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine There's nothing particularly new about My Lucky Star, but since Sonja Henie's skating still provides one of the major pleasures of the screen, what does it matter? Steve D How do these keep getting thinner on plot? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Melodious Sonja Henie skating musical is good fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member 64/100. Cute but minor musical romantic comedy. Very ordinary and predictable but it still manages to entertain. The musical numbers are above average mainly because of Sonia Henie's skating. The supporting cast is great, Cesar Romero, Buddy Ebsen, Arthur Treacher, George Barbier and Gypsy Rose Lee are all terrific. Some catchy tunes, good costume design. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Unbelievable but inoffensive nonsense. Sonja Henie was never much of an actress but she's personable and skates well of course and Richard Greene is extremely good looking if bland. The real attraction of this is the supporting cast. Joan Davis is funny as Sonja's roommate, Buddy Ebsen goofy as her beau and a rare chance to see Gypsy Rose Lee, billed as Louise Hovick, on screen.
