Ed Gonzalez Village Voice My Mexican Shivah kvetches its way through an insipid vision of cross-cultural conflict. Aug 30, 2008 Full Review Eric Henderson Slant Magazine Being neither Mexican nor Jewish, I imagine I'm the perfect audience for the chaotically cross-cultural ethnography farce of My Mexican Shivah. Audience Member If you want to watch a highly funny movie, well this is the wrong one. The story is not bad, but maybe it would have worked more as a drama..... You want a movie about a dysfunctional jewish mexican family Cinco Dias Sin Nora (Nora's Will) is a lot better!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It was really entertaining. Well done. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It was fun watching (like 4 1/2 stars) but it pretty much plagiarized another movie (Jewboy), hence the very low rating. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay, *I* thought it was funny. I'll have to show it to some non-Jewish friends to see if they think it's funny. I would have thought one didn't need to be Jewish to see the humor, but judging from the other reviews, maybe not. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Ok, I did not expect too much as this was my 1st time attending "Dinner & Movie Night" @ Morel's Kosher restaurant WPB". I laughed; I cried and I have to buy this one! Finally a Jewish Spanish Movie with Orthodox Traditions exposed ~ I ENJOYED THIS; Extended Families - Dysfunctional ~ Loud~ Latina & Proud; Get Ready to Laugh & Cry!!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a nice try, but they didn't quite pull it off. The actors were all terrible, and the script wasn't very good. Occasional laughs, good direction and cinematography save this film from being a total mess. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
