A century after the debut of Alfred Hitchcock's first feature, he remains one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. But how does his vast body of work and legacy hold up in today's world? Mark Cousins, the award-winning filmmaker behind Women Make Film, The Storms of Jeremy Thomas, and The Story of Film: A New Generation, tackles this question and looks at the auteur with a new and radical approach: through the use of his own voice. As Hitchcock rewatches his films, we are taken on an odyssey through his vast career -- his vivid silent films, the legendary films of the 1950s and 60s and his later works -- in playful and revealing ways.

Scott E Being a fan of Hitchcock doesn’t guarantee that you can make a good movie about him. This movie lacks the details that reveal what a genius he was. It lacks the intrigue that revolves around his life. And most importantly it lacks the interviews and archive footage that this film needs. It looks as though it was made with stock video. Underwhelming and disappointing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Meme D Nut. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Teddy B An incisive and intricately researched dive into one of the most influential filmmakers of this or any other given time that just oozes and explodes with enthusiasm and devoted passion for the subject the director is undertaking. The film also both subtly and boisterously explains what exactly makes him such an endearing icon as well as diving into the psyche that makes Alfred Hitchcock so interesting to study and further dissect.
