The film attempts to be both a pawky comedy of American manners and an ironic warning about violence breeding violence. It succeeds best as the former, painting its odd world with some shred brushstrokes. Go to Full Review

Somehow the relevance of guns in all of this top-heavy and untidy plot material tends to get lost. Go to Full Review

Whatever else, My New Gun pleads the case for gun control very effectively. Go to Full Review

Unlike most movies about suburbia, Cochran's indie displays no condenscension or mean-spiritedness to her characters, instead taking a quirkily laconic, minimalist approach. Go to Full Review

Makarizo S 05/11/2024 One of my all time favorite movies. It shows you the impact of owning a gun. It doesnt judge or preach about gun ownership but you leave it realizing it's a whole new level of responsibility. Guns are almost sentient that they have the impact nearing that of a human. It also teaches you that while you may be rational, never ever assume someone else is. People make crazy decisions so make sure you are not on the hook for anyone but yourself. See more 05/30/2013 It is a film that suffers from its own attempt to be edgy and alternative. Most of the quirks don't add any value to what is being shown on screen. At least we know what Diane Lane was doing between Streets of Fire and Unfaithful. See more 06/21/2009 Weird, you never find out what the issue was actually between Skippy and his family.... See more 10/27/2008 Insane and crazy at the same time all in the same script.Diane Lane holds the sense and sensibility of this movie all together as the one whom is the continuous victim throughout this whole gun story scenario. See more 08/20/2008 You must see this movie. Diane Lane is a perfect 100000!!!! See more 05/26/2008 The plot made no sense and the dialogue was laughable. The story was asinine and implausible. A complete waste of time. See more Read all reviews
