What's left is a rather humdrum thriller, with a thin plot and overwrought performances. Go to Full Review

It's a thinly plotted affair, because it needs to be, and its narrative shortcomings eventually spoil the fun. Go to Full Review

For all its solid ingredients, the final formula of My Son is let down by a wandering script. You end up with this jumbled up mess of a movie that goes from harrowing, sincere drama to over-the-top revenge thriller. It just doesn't sit right. Go to Full Review

Ryan C Nov 12 This is a great rendition by James McAvoy, especially with there being no script and James was just given the plot to the movie and he improvised all his lines. A real movie achievement. See more Farah R. @Farah Jun 25 The movie’s slow pace is made bearable by James McAvoy’s believable performance and a decent enough plot for a thriller. See more Jarvis W 12/06/2024 Worth a watch. Story is decent but is really carried by the performance of James McAvoy. See more Rebecca Mair G 09/10/2024 I loved the cast and the acting and I was thoroughly enjoying the film over half way through, but towards the end the story goes off on a random story that makes no sense, so many unanswered questions and not a fully closed ending, and not in a good way. Could have been so much better unfortunately! See more Matthew T 09/02/2024 Great cast - fine performance - but disaster of a plot - did the director loose control ? Inconsistencies and dead ends in the story line everywhere / why were the police withdrawn from the case? Why locate such a crime on a remote island - makes no sense or entertainment See more Neal M 06/23/2024 I think James Mcavoy was very good and probably the only good thing about the film. The film itself had potential but but the execution was so bad, so many twists led nowhere and wernt explained. See more Read all reviews
