For all its solid ingredients, the final formula of My Son is let down by a wandering script. You end up with this jumbled up mess of a movie that goes from harrowing, sincere drama to over-the-top revenge thriller. It just doesn't sit right.

If this was improvising, I'm gonna watch more of his movies to get my fill of this intense, skilled actor! McFoy is believable and raw, too, and I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

This is a great rendition by James McAvoy, especially with there being no script and James was just given the plot to the movie and he improvised all his lines. A real movie achievement.
