Sure the english dub of the film is a mixed bag, it has Pauly Shore voicing the villain of course its gonna be bad. However, the animation was really well done for something with a low budget and for a kids film the story is pretty good. But I have a feeling it would make more sense in the original dub. Its a good watch for kids, or if you feel like it, with a group of friends. We came in expecting some inoffensive direct to dvd drivel. But drivel this ain't. My Sweet Monster is a diamond in the rough. How is it that a film that borrows from many of Disney's classic movies and even some of their experimental era films loop back around to feeling earnest? Somehow this film did it. Also, you have to hear Pauly Shore's villian song: I'm Gonna Live It Up. #KnightTheDamnBeaver. What can you gain from Disney's umpteenth live action remakes when you can watch something like this and be reminded of a real fairytale with no shred of corporate cynicism.
