Logan D A deaf and mute woman, Ella (Laura Rauch), believes she has received a message from her creator. She begins a journey of discovery into how her world works and bring disparate persons into her quest. One of the last films I rented from Blockbuster was on a whim. I knew nothing of the film, the director, nor the actors. It just had a neat description. It was low budget but the impact of the film still resonates with me. I had no idea Myth of Man is by the same person. While still a low budget film, the director now has access to CGI that can enhance his vision. The film is viewed thru the limits of Ella. There is no dialogue as she is unable to speak or hear. This makes the narrative interpretive and somewhat ambiguous. However, I found all these characters more interesting by attempting to decipher their intent. From the hopeful innocence of Ella to the anger of a man who can use his voice to harm, we are engaged by their humanity. A standout is Ian Hinton, a youngster who doesn't allow his real life cerebral palsy to interfere with his goals. The visuals, however, are the outstanding part of this film. They're dreamlike with a color pallet to match. It's a daring portrayal of a metaphysical journey in a steam punk world. If you see this review on FB, it's obvious I had a hard time whittling images down from the film to feature. This is a film I would say is what film was meant to portray. Filmed in Central, KY, the producers sold their Colorado home to fund it. Highly, highly recommended if you align with meaningful films. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Cole J Its beautiful and emotional and just absolutely amazing. The director and writer have the incredible talent of making things clear to the viewer whilst upholding the no talk rule and not for a second was i lost or confused, but also not bashing in your skull with repeat information. I love the imagery, the world, the beautiful designs and the memorable characters that are on display and I cannot wait to revisit with a second watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Simon W Absolutely adored this film (metaphor?). Beautifully filmed with aqua blue and sepia standing out as colours in a steampunk adjacent setting, with a very strong performance from Laura Rauch (Ella) as the central character who is unable to either hear or speak. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/25 Full Review John M Let's get this out of way now. This movie did NOT use AI in it's creation. They created almost 3500 props and costumes by hand. The score, script and direction were all done by the same person. It was certainly a bit confusing, but was an affecting, visually and aurally stunning experience. It's not a casual watch. I'm thinking about it today after watching last night. I will watch it again merely based on the experience. There is no dialog. Think of a silent film based in a glorious steampunk world. A bit more plot hand-holding wouldn't have hurt and I think ultimately would've opened up the film to a larger audience. It wants to be deep, but it's hard to get overly emotionally invested due to the editing. The performances were good, sound and visuals stunning. Certainly won't be forgetting about it anytime soon... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/21/25 Full Review Ubaid R First writer who thinks in 4th dimension. And 1st director who visualized this phenomenon. Absolute masterpiece exploring where an artist's mind can reach, expanding inwards. Still don't know who wrote & direct, but this is alive art! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/25 Full Review John W A Steam Punk fever dream. Wonderful visuals and soundscapes. The story brings in more than it can handle but it’s bold and more original than most any studio offering. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
