j f Gloria Grahame’s chin, yet again, steals the show. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Aldo G Almost perfect direction by Jerry Hopper makes this noir a must. A psychopath is pursued by a dogged and determined detective. Hopper does well with his detailed pacing, camerawork and a climatic scene above city rooftops that's among the best filmed in that era. Above all, the three leads - Sterling Hayden, Gene Barry and Gloria Grahame - raise their performances. It's reported that the actors loved the environment created by Hopper. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/01/23 Full Review nick s An above average detective style story. Gloria Graham is captivating with her sultry look and charming accent. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Tom M Classic noir with Hayden as the cop who relentlessly chases psychotic Barry. Why is Grahame cast as femme fatale so often? Because nobody's better at it ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/21 Full Review Audience Member Well worth seeking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review ron k There are a lot of Gloria Grahame movies and quite a few are rated here on Rotten Tomatoes. Grahame's movies get fresh ratings. I'm the first to write anything on this one.Her best scene was the one singing a song in her entrance. I liked her since she played the cute Ado Annie in Oklahoma. What can I say. She's cute as can be.Gene Barry was weak as a psycho mobster whose alibi is his marriage to a sweet girl that he uses. Grahame is the girlfriend in his gangster self and he slaps around Grahame pretty much. I thought it looked authentic but... When Sterling Hayden was eating with the Gene Barry character he looked exactly like he did in the Godfather when he was eating and the Al Pacino's character shot him. It's uncanny. If you want to see her you'll like the movie. If not it's just another 1950's black and white detective story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
