After a man is murdered and a large sum of money disappears from an office, Donald Heath (Ray McAnally) is convicted of the crime based on the testimony of his colleague, George Radcliffe (Gary Cooper). George's wife, Martha (Deborah Kerr), starts to become suspicious of her husband when, after the crime, he invests money in a business venture and begins to act strangely. When a blackmailing letter arrives from Jeremy Gray (Eric Portman), Martha risks her life to find out the truth.

A kind of Hitchcock parody, with even the Hitchcockian publicity stunts about not giving away the ending and tricks of Hitch-style surprise, such as a bead of sweat in close-up-and, quite simply, no talent.

Scripted by Joseph Stefano (better known for Hitchcock's Psycho), this mildly engaging suspense thriller became Gary Cooper's final film, released posthumously.

It was good, Cooper's acting was a little bit too suspicious though, and the wife, Deborah Kerr was a bit too whiney, but an interesting murder mystery.

Poor Coop. What a terrible end to a stellar career . Maybe he was sick , or something ; his wooden performance not helped by a painfully bad screenplay , that none of the rather marvellous supporting actors could make work.

Not a classic but not as bad as its reputation indicates. Everyone has made better films though. Hermione Gingold is a delight in her too short screen time.
