Mythily Ramachandran Romancing Cinema [Shraddha] Srinath is terrific and her scenes are intense leaving you misty eyed. Feb 18, 2020 Full Review Thinkal Menon The Times of India The movie discusses a relevant topic in our times - consent from women before moving close with her. It attacks the regressive, patriarchal mindset of tagging women as good and bad based on their choices... Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 8, 2019 Full Review Haricharan Pudipeddi Hindustan Times Shraddha is equally praiseworthy as Ajith for being open to accept the role. If accepting such a role is a challenge, pulling off the character would've been even more challenging. Rated: 4/5 Aug 8, 2019 Full Review Sreedhar Pillai Firstpost Nerkonda Paarvai is Ajith's best movie in recent times and deserves a watch for its daring theme and presentation. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 8, 2019 Full Review Srinivasa Ramanujam The Hindu This Tamil remake of Pink not only discusses society's collective gaze on women, but also gives us uniformly excellent performances from its lead cast. Audience Member Amazing Movie. Definitely a must-watch... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Nerkonda Paarvai - 9/10. 2019 in tamil cinema has been an interesting year to say the least. There have been some projects that came by that left some what of an impact, and then there were few that had an instant impact once the film was released. Nerkonda Paarvai is one of those films this year. Though a remake of the film #pink, this is one instance where I would say a remake was highly necessary. This isn't a film that revolves around a star or a few characters. Its a film that revolves around the situation of the court case being brought forth by the 3 lead characters (which feature brilliant performances from Shraddha Srinath and Abhirami Venkatachalam), and the lawyer that helps fight the case (Ajith Kumar in one of his best performances in years). Each of the 4 main characters in the story go through pretty big character arcs as the story progresses. H. Vinoth directs this film in such a raw and impactful way. Outside of the one #mass sequence (which is actually pretty entertaining in accordance to the circumstances Ajith's character is going through), the film is a grounded look at how people view cases of this type in society and legally. Some scenes where characters "advise" or try to influence the victims to forget or move on from their trauma is pretty harrowing, as the traditional set pieces of a hero swooping in to save them from their plight is not there. In the case of Ajith's character, he's a man who is tormented by the past of a mistake that he made, which morphs him into becoming this anxiety ridden, mentally hurt character. Ajith does a great job of not overshadowing the other performers in the film as well, as he plays his performances to the necessary level required. Shraddha and Abhirami both deliver moving performances of women that are affected by the situation in hand. Vidya Balan also appears briefly, and also delivers a nice performance for the short amount of time she's in the film. Cinematography by Nirav Shah is amazing as usual, as he brings a damp and somber mood to the atmosphere of the film. Overall, Nerkonda Paarvai is a must see! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member You need not be an Ajith fan to enjoy this film. In fact there are no usual ingredients which are found in Tamil films like duets, lot of fights ( there IS one in this!), foreign locations, punch dialogues). Its completely different. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent message movie. Courtroom drama was predictable and not tense.
