Anna M.M. Vetticad annavetticadgoes2themovies Mohanlal’s filmography has for decades been dominated by hyper-masculinity and omnipotent heroes. So when he chooses to play a man who wears his vulnerability on his sleeve, the character’s significance extends beyond the boundaries of this storyline. Creolkat25 H Very inspirational and appropriate for this era. Makes you believe in truth and justice! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review rev It's a good story filled with emotions, but it doesn't live up to the hype. There are many better movies in Malayalam. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Nikhil Good movie, good performance by everyone. There is some lag but the movie is a solid 7.5/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review Adarsh T Neru: Seeking Justice Movie Review: Mohanlal-Jeethu combo delivers superb legal drama. Story: Sara, a blind girl, gets raped, and she points the police to the culprit. But is the evidence strong enough to implicate him? Review: If you are looking for a classy massy film, no one does it better than Jeetu Joseph. He delivers something that not only gives you an adrenaline spike, but also gets you emotionally invested. This could be considered even superior to the Drishyam franchise and is sure to give a pan-Indian boost to Malayalam content. Neru goes right into the plot in the first scene, but none of the characterisations feel slight because of a lack of background build up. A youngster, named Sara (Anaswara Rajan), has been raped and making the evidence collection difficult is the fact that she is blind. However, as a talented sculptor, she creates his likeness in clay, based on which the police arrest a young guy who was visiting his friend in the neighbourhood. The rest of the film is a court procedural drama, where the influence and wealth of the accused is pitted against the word of a blind girl. Siddique and Priyamani play Delhi-based father-daughter legal team representing the accused (Sankar Induchoodan), who is from a wealthy, politically influential family. And after the accused gets bail because of the incompetence of a bumbling prosecutor, the victim and her parents are guided by the investigating officer (Ganesh Kumar) to take on the legal services of a reluctant Vijayamohan (Mohanlal). Vijayamohan and Siddique’s character Radhakrishnan have history, and the former is returning to court after a five-year gap, so it seems like a bit of a David-Goliath battle. This is what keeps viewers on the edge of their seats and emotional for the full 152-minute duration of the film. You will barely take your eyes off the screen to maybe wipe away a tear. Audiences are given a glimpse of how evidence and records are manipulated, and a victim’s soul-destroying fight, particularly in court, to get justice. Well done to Santhi Mayadevi, who has a sweet role as Mohanlal’s friend and girl-Friday, and Jeethu Joseph for scripting a timely film. It may not be an exact representation of our justice system, but is one that we hope for, and also for raising important issues that people can reflect on. When Vijayamohan tells Radhakrishnan that “today’s women won’t suffer injustice quietly” and that he should try to change, Mohanlal delivers it with the perfect amount of drama that doesn’t make it cringey, but gets the audience applauding. There are several such important dialogues, such as when Sara speaks fiercely about consent, or her father (Jagadish) says, “What a terrible system that we might lose, despite presenting so much evidence.” Mohanlal delivers a superb subdued performance, which gives the film its wholesome temper. While it might seem that Mohanlal carries the film, it is actually a coming together of a superb, flawless cast, whether it is Santhi, Siddique, Priyamani, Jagadish or Mathew Varghese, who plays the judge. Of course, Anaswara is the other star of the show, switching between vulnerability and grit with perfection. There is a final moment between Sara and Vijayamohan that both actors do so well, that it will leave a lump in the throat. Verdict: Hit. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Athul M A run of the mill court drama riddled with plot holes that brings absolutely nothing new to the table. Yet another movie that depends on solely on depictions of SA to bring a emotional weight to the movie.
