Audience Member Most film series get pretty worn out by the third film, but I was really surprised how much I liked this entry in the One Armed Swordsman series, mostly due to some top tier action sequences. The film sticks slavishly to it's formula; a great swordsman loses an unfair fight early on in the film and also loses one of his arms. But wait! Our hero battles on, now with one arm and is more fierce than ever! That's pretty much it for the story, but the action sequences, directed by Cheh Chang and featuring future John Woo action star Ti Lung, are astounding. This film is a must see for martial arts film fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Somewhat predictable but still worth seeing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a big-deal from Director Cheh Chang,The New One Armed is more like a fan-service and lack of Efforts.Anyway,Mr.Chang's camera-view is sterling as usual. They actually can save the budget and delivered different tittle, instead of created this new version of One-Armed.Can't blame the greedy heart from Asian. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Cheh Chang reinvents the one armed swordsman story, this time with David Chiang in the title role. He does a fine job, with Ti Lung backing him up in a side role. It is a story of redemption and fate, with a very good plot at its core. A little usage of set up and pay off also makes for a very well choreographed fight scene at the end, and one of the best one-liners before the final kill. A very good remake of The One-Armed Swordsman. Sûrement, car il vaut bien mieux regarder les combats du film ;-) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member After 2 successful "One Armed Swordsman" movies with Jimmy Wang Yu, the series gets revamped with a new star, a new story, but still with Chang Cheh helming the movie. The blood, the action, the drama is all there, but it just isn't near the classics of the first 2. It's still a lot of fun in swordplay and martial arts. And plus, a guy gets torn apart at the waist! C'mon! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
