John J. Puccio Movie Metropolis Even though it is not a great movie in and of itself, it had a clear influence on later films and television shows. Rated: 6/10 Jul 9, 2010 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid It's a richly layered and dense, yet compact movie that sadly loses a bit of its force in the final stretch. Jul 6, 2010 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seanax.com ... a classic mix of Hollywood docudrama and tabloid exploitation. Jul 1, 2010 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Never exciting, tense or eye-opening. Rated: C+ Oct 13, 2004 Full Review Read all reviews

Alain E Ridiculous. Deserves to remain in obscurity. The acting, the stupid voiceover every few minutes , the holes in the plot. Free on YouTube but they couldn’t pay me enough to watch it in its entirety. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Gary M Crawford in peak form calling everyone pigs, and screaming as tough mob boss. Conte with the genesis of perfecting the smooth criminal he'd carry all the way into The Godfater. Bancrost amazing, best of them all. Steamy as a fiery mob boss' daughter. A perrenial in gangster flicks, a personal fave Mike Mazurki finally gets a meaty part with lots of dialogue and range. Classic 50s noir. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review catherine c Love this nostalgic film noir classic. Great story and dialogue. Clever direction and cinematography. The femme fatales are fabulous. Perfect for a movie night. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Bruce W Moves along fast enough. Crawford and Conte both put in top-notch performances, Bancroft a nice added bonus. The marriage proposal scene is one you'll never forget. A wee bit too much dialog, especially in the final 40 minutes. Unlike a number of other film noirs released in 1955, this movie isn't one that that strikes the viewer as "being way ahead of it's time". Worth a watch but not a film you'll need to watch more than once. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Biker B One of the best noir films made! It's a must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Audience Member You can always do worse than a film noir featuring Richard Conte. He's the cool as ice eye candy for the ladies. For the male audience, there's a young Ann Bancroft; you'll be hard-pressed to believe this role is performed by the same actress who was the "older" seductress to a college grad just twelve years later. The blond who plays Iris, the young plaything for Broderick Crawford's mob boss character, isn't too tough on the eyes, either. You'll root for a happy ending with Conti and Bancroft escaping the inevitable train wreck ending; I'm sure I won't spoil it by mentioning that the production code wouldn't have permitted that.
