A perrenial in gangster flicks, a personal fave Mike Mazurki finally gets a meaty part with lots of dialogue and range. Classic 50s noir. A wee bit too much dialog, especially in the final 40 minutes. Unlike a number of other film noirs released in 1955, this movie isn't one that that strikes the viewer as "being way ahead of it's time".
