Jane (Ashley Olsen) and Roxy Ryan (Mary-Kate Olsen) are teenage Long Island twins who find themselves on numerous misadventures when they trek into Manhattan on a school day. While the studious Jane intends to give an important speech in hopes of winning a scholarship, the more relaxed and carefree Roxy wants to track down her favorite New York City rock group. Trailing behind them, however, is Max Lomax (Eugene Levy), their school's obsessive truant officer.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Feels more like a calculated product designed to expand the Olsens' brand than an actual movie. Also, it contains ethnic stereotyping and sexual innuendo.

Separately the characters are annoying; together it's unnervingly like watching one actress playing twins. Go to Full Review

New York Minute is, for the most part, a bottom-of-the-barrel star vehicle that doesn't entirely, at any point, justify its very existence. Go to Full Review

Admittedly, in all this stupidity there are a couple of laugh out loud moments, but these do not make up for the fact that mediocrity is a poor replacement for talent and comic timing. Go to Full Review

See more Herry S 07/17/2023 "New York Minute" I was watched younger in past time they both actress aren't that famous held by pop punk Canadian band known as : Simple Plan. It was terrible story based on "American girls power" lead into family relationship with independent. I suggested not to watch this film there is nothing special stories in there. See more 05/01/2023 The movie was more enjoyable than I expected. The men love interests are one dimensional though. Just there to serve and help the Olsen’s as much as possible. See more Blu B 10/05/2022 Bad Comedy. Simple As that. The Acting is not good as it seems like the Twins put no effort into anything and are just going through the motions. Even if your just playing yourselves you should still put effort into being entertaining. The adult supporting cast is boring as well. Eugene Levy clearly thought for 80% of the film he was in the Maltese Falcon and so did the director. The cinematography in this is garbage its all over the place with camera angles that don't match what is going on at all. The editing is atrocious. This film feels like its shot like a Romantic comedy, than goes to a 40's Noir, than to a Sam Raimi film back to Screwball Comedy. There is no rhyme or reason or steady flow to any of it. It truly feels like a bunch of different Olsen Twin skits pasted together into a movie. The music is not good feeling very out of place at times. The pacing in this is awful as well with no sense of direction and no clear plot for most of the middle of the film. It is them just doing pointless hijinks and bad jokes. 95% of the jokes do not hit and some are cringe bad. The ending is kind of ok but its not worth sitting through the 1 hour plus to get there. Overall its a terrible comedy with no substance to it at all. Skip This No Matter what. See more Read all reviews
