Helen T. Verongos New York Times Its tightly shot scenes never reveal much context, and the rather cryptic subtitles can lead a viewer to mistaken conclusions until the identities and motivations of the characters click into focus. Apr 14, 2016 Full Review Mark Jenkins Washington Post The imagery is gauzy and ephemeral, with lots of layered reflections and nighttime shots. The narrative spins backwards and then jumps forward, as if reconstructed from shards of painful memory. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 14, 2016 Full Review Edmund Lee South China Morning Post An artfully presented film about two lovers who can't stop torturing themselves with their self-serving tendency and inexplicable aloofness. Rated: 3/5 Jun 9, 2016 Full Review Daniel Eagan Film Journal International Bellhop and escort fall unhappily in love in this dank, gloomy romance from China. Audience Member Skilled execution for a corny story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Not worth the $15.99 by far. It's so boring that some audience members left after 1.5 hours of zero plot. Two hours is redundant. They just say "we want to go to New York," or "not" a lot. The acting is poor. There's a scene where the editing is so poor the guy is on the left side of the bed, then on the right, his girlfriend hugging him... each time the scene shows them from a different take it became more and more bewildering how their editors missed this. It's disrespectful and insulting to an audience. I wish I had my money back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
