Martin Tsai New York Times 01/04/2019
Amid the familiar personality quirks, airy loft setting, glowing cinematography and orchestral score, the toxicity of Astor's narcissism and frustration leaps out. Go to Full Review
Chuck Foster Film Threat 02/04/2019
2/10
Sadly, what could have been the next Tiny Furniture gets so wrapped up in its own narcissism that it falls flat with a dull thud. Go to Full Review
Rob Aldam Backseat Mafia 01/10/2019
A brilliant take on narcissism and a total lack of self-awareness. Go to Full Review

Caustic, cynical and clever, this funny takedown of the LA dating scene is a richly satisfying indie gem. Go to Full Review

A dark and somewhat bitter dramedy, director-writer-star Adam Christian Clark's Newly Single is a punchy character piece that really draws you into its orbit. Go to Full Review
Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall 12/07/2018

aaron g 12/23/2022 I tried, but the dialogue was so clunky and narcissistic (including the characters who weren't intended to be the focus of narcissism), that it didn't seem worth the effort to finish. See more 09/19/2019 Central male character (Astor) was extremely off-putting, especially in contrast to women he interacted with. Valerie's convictions presented challenges but came off as sympathetic. His interaction with Belle was heartbreaking. In just a few scenes, Alexandra Skye managed to evoke an open, affectionate likable person whom he abruptly cut off. A more sympathetic character, still flawed, facing the same challenges, would have made for a much more compelling story. See more 01/10/2019 Weird, uncomfortable, and both in kind of an amazing way. See more margaret s 01/08/2019 Dark, cynical and pointless. Definitely not entertaining. Seemed like time I'll spent. Character in movie is toxic and movie feels heavy and unrelenting. No added value if the movie is not entertaining nor brings any new insights, why spend your precious time watching it. See more 01/07/2019 One of my unexpectedly favorite movies of 2018. Incredibly original. See more 01/04/2019 This movie was very enjoyable to watch. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s true to the reality of being broken hearted and trying to keep your head above water. A candid depiction of online dating. The landscape is mostly Astor letting his instincts go array while trying to comfort his insatiable need for validation. I highly recommend this movie as it is truly a magnificent work of art. See more Read all reviews
