Audience Member Ed Burns proves that with a good script, good actors, and good performances, a good movie can be made for $10,000. I was definitely surprised by Newlyweds. The characters and ideas in this story really kept me interested. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Another movie I meant to watch a lot sooner, but it was a let down. I like Ed Burns' movies usually, a lot better than this one anyway. Not a big fan of when the camera is talked into and acknowledged at all most of the time. Didn't work for me in this movie especially. The story was way too predictable even for a supposed romantic comedy. The characters weren't very likable or unlikable but in an interesting way. Some of the dialogue was good at points but not very often and almost never funny. The setting of NY always helps a small independent movie like this one. Was hoping for better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not bad, but definitely sad to watch, given the state of most relationships/marriages out there. A pretty decent movie though, with a rather basic plot-line, but interesting characters and good acting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member "Newlyweds" a defining point why divorce rates have skyrocketed. No need to bother seeing this. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member another contemporary look at marriage and relationships in the 21st century this borrows heavily from woody allen format/plot wise i've seen this all b4 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member If you dis-like drama's, I don't recommend it. Overall, I thought it was a really cool movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Amy Taubin Film Comment Magazine The best thing I can say about Newlyweds is that I hope there's a sequel because I'm really curious about what will happen to these characters five years down the line. Jan 12, 2012 Full Review Caitlin Colford Paste Magazine Ed Burns' latest writing and directing venture holds the perfect recipe for swiftly putting audiences into a New York state of mind. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 21, 2012 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com Okay, so he's not Woody Allen. That's setting the bar a bit too high. But for Burns, he's never been better.
