Variety Staff Variety Night Warning is a fine psychological horror film. May 21, 2020 Full Review Justin Stewart Film Comment Magazine Asher... directs with a meat-and-potatoes efficiency and visual sense, letting the casting, risk-taking performances, and the twisted, quirky screenplay carry the day. May 21, 2020 Full Review Kristen Lopez AwardsCircuit.com A kooky little 80s movie worth seeking out if you want to know what William Asher was directing during the decade. May 21, 2020 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy This isn’t your typical exploitation yarn -- on the contrary, it’s rife with subtext beneath its occasionally demented exterior. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Keri O'Shea Warped Perspective Little wonder that this title ended up on the DPP 39 Video Nasties list – it’s basically a shopping list of all the elements that the 80s censors disliked enough to prohibit. May 19, 2024 Full Review Paul Lê Bloody Disgusting Tyrrell is indeed the big draw here, but the rest of this horror gem is surprisingly well-crafted, ripe for analysis, and should not go overlooked. Tasos L One of the great movies of that era, that's unraveling its hidden messages behind the scenes. Enjoyable slasher by the way! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Jonathan O Night Warning aka Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker is really the scariest psychological disturbing queer horror thriller. Susan Tyrrell's performance is absolutely terrifying and disturbing and Bo Svenson performance is the most hated homophonic of the 80's he's character is so meaningful, twisted, hateful and menacing towards the characters and there's a final destination 2 reference. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/24 Full Review Jerod S Auntie takes custody of the boy - but she's crazy beyond belief. Turns out, she's stashed her high school boyfriend in the basement and has plans on keeping her nephew around forever, too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review michael d Weird, rad, and mindfucky. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Jens B Surprisingly good, I enjoyed it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/22 Full Review R P I have to say, it's nice watching Joe Bob Briggs Last Drive In Theater. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have even known about Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (also known as Night Warning). Which surprises me because I'm a fan of Susan Tyrrell. She plays crazy really well. You get a twist ending, an aunt and nephew way too close for comfort, and a homophobic cop.
