Joanna Burke (Sherilyn Fenn) courageously rescues her daughter from being hit by a speeding automobile, only to be hit by the truck herself. She later regains consciousness in what seems to be an alternate universe. There she learns she never had a daughter, another family lives in her home and everyone thinks she's Sarah Randolph, a woman suspected of murdering a young boy.
