Audience Member A sweet and lovely film about Fijians and other islanders in Aotearoa. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Some awkward scenes don't work, and the Christian message is a bit odious, but I really quite enjoyed myself otherwise. The women are marvellous, especially Blake and Novotny, and the final shot is extraordinary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not as powerful as some other NZ connected movies but a nice gang hanging around... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a first for me. I'm not used to this type of cultural films. This posed a very authentic family with very real characters that people can see today and relate to. I'd say this is a good movie with good intentions. Just that being a first for me, it was like I got hit by a bus. I had to get used to it. The start might hit you hard but the end would leave you satisfied. :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A life in the day of a family. And indeed a quite chaotic one - the life as well as the day as well as the family. Nothing really spectacular is happening; however, Toa Fraser and the actors of this movie draw you inside and in the end you feel like you have known all those different and often difficult characters for quite a while. Nick Schager Slant Magazine Naming Number Two peddles familial reconciliation while making one pine for familial annihilation. Rated: 1/4 Jul 27, 2007 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Assured handling and an appealing cast make this a deserving crowd-pleaser. Jan 31, 2006 Full Review Dorothy Woodend The Tyee (British Columbia) . . .No.2, a rollicking, raunchy tale of the ties that bind. Aug 23, 2017 Full Review Nora Lee Mandel Maven's Nest May be the first feature about Fijian immigrants, let alone in New Zealand, but its delightful portrait of an extended family can be universally appreciated. Rated: 8/10 Jan 2, 2016 Full Review Donald J. Levit ReelTalk Movie Reviews There's food for thought in 'Naming Number Two,' but staginess in conception and acting, bad pacing, and triteness are together too much to overcome. Apr 23, 2008 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall An involving story, even if the story structure betrays its stage roots. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 7, 2007 Full Review Read all reviews
