Mary Houlihan Chicago Sun-Times No God, No Master has an authentic period feel. But Green is focused on so many historical figures and potential storylines that the film feels rushed and, at times, confusing. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 24, 2014 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader [A] fairly engrossing historical drama. Apr 24, 2014 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A film that probably should have been called "No Ambien? No Problem!" Apr 10, 2014 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) The attention to detail is strong and it's hard not to think about De Palma's The Untouchables. Aug 19, 2015 Full Review Kenneth R. Morefield Christianity Today Nobody in No God, No Master actually utters the phrase "those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it," but that sentiment is the subtext of nearly every line of dialogue in this historical drama about the Palmer Raids. Audience Member good period mystery suspenser Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Kjedelig. Har sett dette før mange ganger. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Solid movie with an important story to tell. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member David Strathairn carries this enterprise with some confident support from a fine cast, including Ray Wise as the US attorney general. NO GOD NO MASTER was made on a shoestring, and the screenwriter/director may have succumbed to a temptation to equate historical events (Sacco and Vanzetti, the Ludlow Massacre, the anarchist movement of the early 20th century) to the war on terror in our own time, yet the story works well. The film is short, tight, intelligent, and quite entertaining. This is one of those roles which demands Mr. Strathairn's characteristic minimalism. It's his movie, and he opens it up to all of us. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Illuminates a period we all studied in school, but probably sleep walked through -- as did I. "Blaa, blaa, blaa, immigrants, blaa, blaa, Labor, Unions, blaa. This brought it all to life and, showed the similarities between the stance on terrorism of certain government members then with those is recent administrations (hint: it's almost identical!). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The dramatic music was irritating. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
