Late R ‘No Rest For The Wicked' is a hard-boiled cop thriller that is in desperate need of some smarts or, failing that, enough action and tension to keep you interested in its simple plot. Unfortunately, despite a few fantastic moments (it starts out and ends well), it mostly has neither with only the intense performance from seasoned actor José Coronado as the driving force to keep you engaged. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Superb Madrid crime thriller Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Tense Spanish film noir directed by Enrique Urbizu with a terrific performance by Jose Coronado. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Winding and intense modern-day suspense film featuring a true anti-hero. Admittedly I had no idea where this was going for at least half the film, but I stuck with it out of curiosity and my affinity for anti-heroes and unhappy endings. The subject of the film slowly materializes and shifts from a cop-gone-bad film, in which we know very little about said cop and yet don't need to know to like/dislike him, to a bit of a suspense/thriller at the very end, when the full revelations of who is what come to the screen. Definitely a good ride if you are into this sort of thing and don't expect everything to be spelled out for you right away; not formulaic, but meandering in a little too slow but good way. The officials pursuing him are dogged, but undercooked, if you will, and how they arrive on the scene at the end of the film has to be assumed. In the end, however, just before the credits role, the movie becomes a cautionary tale of modern day European fears, something that is disturbing on a few levels. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member PRO: José Coronado's commanding performance! CON: Almost an hour and a half of mind numbing, uber boring police procedural! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Sube y baja hasta cierto punto. La profundidad del personaje toma toda la pelicula pra el.
