Ernest Hardy Village Voice Polk's heavy-handed political sloganeering is lifted straight from pamphlets, while his character development and plotting are clumsy and filled with holes. The ensemble acting is, putting it kindly, wildly uneven. May 22, 2020 Full Review Robert Koehler Variety The blandly staged film misses a great opportunity to draw insightful and memorable character portraits of the kind virtually ignored in mainstream moviemaking. May 22, 2020 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Hollywood Reporter In Polk's determination to say everything he feels that needs to be said, all the talky drama keeps threatening to divert "Noah's Arc" from "Sex and the City" to "Boys in the Band." May 22, 2020 Full Review Terrence Butcher PopMatters Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom comes off as feel-good, nothing-better-to-do-on-Saturday night light entertainment, and little more. It's easily digestible, but just as easily forgotten. Rated: 7/10 May 22, 2020 Full Review Ernest Hardy L.A. Weekly While there are some solid chuckles scattered throughout the film, Polk's heavy-handed political sloganeering is lifted straight from pamphlets, while his character development and plotting are clumsy and filled with holes. Oct 23, 2008 Full Review Armond White New York Press Jumping the Broom exalts an underserved audience yet Polk's discussion of the socio-economic connection of slavery and contemporary gay politics doesn't patronize them. Audience Member Pretty good movie....I like the fact that the story stayed the same from the series!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked it but I thought it could have been better. I Like the TV series better. At times it got too crazy for me. The whole thing with the professor and the young kid. I don't know and then Ricky saying that he is in love with noah. It was just too much drama at some points. It had a good ending but I feel the story works better as a TV series. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I was an avid fan of the series Noah's Arc. It was a great show, I mean, not the best acting but, it had heart! And it was something I looked forward to watching every week! It saddened me to no end when the show was not renewed by Logo. In a time where we had Queer as Folk and The L Word, it was awesome to see an African American/Latino portrayal of gays in a positive light. So when the movie was announced as the final farewell, I was stoked! A wedding for Noah and Wade! The perfect "Fairy" tale ending! And it was a good ending...but man the drama! It's like they ran out of ideas. It was do overly dramatic. I expected so much more, especially given that this was it...no more chances. To say I was a little disappointed would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, it was hilarious at time, and sad at time. But it didn't have that same magic that the show had. It didn't translate well. (That's just my opinion.) Overall, it was just okay.
