Carlos Aguilar Variety Repeatedly drives home its point about the unifying force of a homecooked meal as an embodiment of community, and even as it overcrowds its narrative pot with too many unnecessary condiments that get lost in the mix, the result is ultimately palatable. May 12, 2025 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday You're not going to be planted at the edge of your seat here, but "Nonnas" has ample pleasures. Rated: 3/4 May 12, 2025 Full Review Adam Graham Detroit News "Nonnas" follows a familiar underdog formula and checks off story beats you can set your watch by. Rated: C May 12, 2025 Full Review Asia Frey Lagniappe (Mobile, AL) Nonnas” was not groundbreaking or edgy, but it was pleasant and heartfelt. If you let yourself be comforted and relax into this movie, there’s a good chance that at the end you will feel some emotion akin to “I needed that.” Rated: B+ Sep 25, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy Representational of what is essentially a labor of love, the film that depicts the story of Nonas isn’t made with the same love and care as the real deal. It’s more like Olive Garden, for people who like Olive Garden. Rated: 74/100 Aug 7, 2025 Full Review Marissa Hill Shade Studios If you’re looking for a story that’s equal parts heartwarming and hilarious, Nonnas is your ticket. Just don’t watch it hungry. Sl101 D Nonnas is wonderful, this movie is so heart warming and makes me further think of and appreciate my own amazing grandma, nothing like a sweet feel good movie with a realistic yet powerful message of pursuing what you love with who you love, no matter the venture! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/30/25 Full Review Arnie C The concept of this movie is excellent and the fact that it is based on a true story, raised my expectations. but about 10 minutes into the film I started to realize that it was nothing more than a vehicle for Italian stereotypes. So utterly predictable and trite, I truly feel sorry for the famous actors like Brenda Vaccaro, Talia Shire and Lorraine Bracco, who were evidently roped into this production, thinking it would have more than a millimeter of depth. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Lesa T Vince Vaughn is always amazing and he definitely worked his charm in this heartwarming true story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Deana R Watching "Nonnas" is like getting a warm hug from an old friend. This film lovingly tells the true story of Joey, who channels his grief and longing into something beautiful: a restaurant powered by the culinary wisdom of Italian grandmothers. The real-life footage at the end grounds it all with genuine emotion, reminding viewers that the journey wasn’t just a script—it was Joey’s way of honoring his mom and grandmother. "Nonnas" gently navigates the complexities of loss, forgiveness, and regret, while also celebrating friendship, risk, and—most powerfully—love. Every scene is infused with heart and soul, steering clear of the violence and cynicism often found in modern dramas. Instead, it offers a refreshing, wholesome antidote: an invitation to slow down and savor life’s simpler, richer moments. If your brain needs a shot of genuine feel-good chemistry, let "Nonnas" dose you with hope and comfort. It’s a reminder that love and food can heal us in ways nothing else can. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Shannon M A touching story but pretty slow. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/22/25 Full Review Joseph C A feel-good story that doesn't fool you with the protagonist's struggles (you just KNOW this is gonna work) but is still a fun journey along the way. A lot of familiar faces in this film, and Vaughn has the perfect temperament for the lead. Didn't know it was a true story until the ending.
