Transitions can be tricky. Returning to her hometown after abandoning her music career, Nora finds it difficult to settle into the new demands of suburban motherhood. When her husband goes on tour and leaves her solo-parenting their precocious six-year-old, Nora is forced to evaluate her current circumstances and the dreams she left behind. A visceral portrait of a woman in transition, Anna Campbell's directorial debut expertly cuts together Nora's musical imagination with her day-to-day responsibilities -- interweaving vibrant fantasy sequences set to an upbeat indie rock soundtrack. Featuring performances by Campbell, Lesley Ann Warren, Kate Miner, Jay Walker, and Nick Fink as well as original music by The Airborne Toxic Event's Noah Harmon, NORA is an honest look at the pressures created by modern motherhood and the tension between a mother's dreams and those she has for her family.

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News “Nora” doesn’t put any of its characters into conforming boxes, and that’s what makes it such a joy. Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A mildly engrossing and well-acted, but tonally uneven and undercooked character study. Anna Campbell, who's reminiscent of Lesley Manville, gives a warm and heartfelt performance that helps to ground it in authenticity. Apr 18, 2025 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Campbell’s performance is committed and the music videos are innovative in their various style and forms, yet the blending of the drama with them doesn’t quite work leaving the script feeling a bit underbaked. Moody C This seems autobiographical but just not enough meat for a movie. I’m not sure songs help in storytelling and feels gimmicky just to be different. It’s a comedy but I didn’t laugh once. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
