      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Coming off his Oscar-nominated performance in Dreamgirls, the talented-but-inconsistent Eddie Murphy plays three roles in Norbit, a cruel, crass, stereotype-filled comedy that's more depressing than funny.

Dee L This movie was hilarious. And the fans spoke at the box office and dvd sales. Critics are useless. They tried to tank the movie, but it was too funny to fail. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review hutch312 This is my first review and if it was not for one of the greatest movie review podcast "Cinephobe" (available where ever you get your podcasts) I would have never wrote this review. I first saw this back in 2008 on HBO and my mind was blown… it is a genuinely funny movie. I am probably one of the few people in the world who does enjoy when Eddie plays multiple characters in a movie and in this one he spares no one. So many good characters, lines and moments. A little long but does not feel too long. I understand why the critics hate it, but also understand why over 58% of the audience loves it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review Sawyer B This movie is wildly underrated master piece that bring the comedic stylings of Eddie Murphy, costume design of Molly Magennis, along with a great supporting cast all to one 1hr 42min long movie that's just fun to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Phillip L Funny film, surprised the ratings are so low Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review Zuzanna B The best movie I've ever watched in my whole life. Nothing will ever top this. I laughed, I cried, I shed blood, and everything else. It made me feel every emotion ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Peter Bradshaw Guardian Murphy has a deplorable joke concerning a lost policeman's whistle for which there is no excuse whatever - other than it's very funny. Rated: 2/5 Mar 10, 2007 Full Review Tony Horkins Empire Magazine Stereotype-based comedy from Eddie Murphy in a variety of fat suits is just not enough to make a decent film.
