Audience Member Coming of age drama written by a woman, and you can definitely tell, because it's relatable. Can recommend for anybody who likes Sofia Coppola, Drake Doremus, Noah Baumbach in that the journey's the important thing. Also a good early appearance by Adam Driver. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member i don't want to go.. Not Waving But Drowning The suave mild tone should be admired here as it never loses its touch till the end and keeps it honest to the core but the thing that itches here is the performance; its somehow a swing and a miss. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a slow, uneventful film that makes you float through a pointless move to New York. None of the cast are attractive or holds your interest besides "big boy" in the beginning. Dull, boring, monotones, and has many holes. Not to mention the God awful music as the film comes to a close. This just leaves you hanging at every scene and is pretty frustrating to watch. Where is the scene of the wreck? Where were funeral scenes? Of a follow up with the man who stays late? Why didn't we see more emotion more intricate scene of the woman's passing at the nursing home. The photographer- you only see once... Horribly done. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing new here, but solid performances and great use of music and editing give it a fresher feel. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! I went to see it with a bunch of friends and it was a blast. It was something we could all relate too. Adele and Sara are awesome and words cannot describe how incredible Slyvia is! I can only hope to meet someone as worldy and fun as her. oooo and that Adam, he's a dorky hunk that I have a secret crush on. From the cast to the filmography, to the sound track I give this movie a 10. Definitely see it!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I really really really loved this film (9.5/10!). I consider myself something of a film buff and an expert on New York (I lived in NYC from 1997-2004. Yes, during 9/11). I saw this movie in Los Angeles and was absolutely enchanted! Even though I'm a guy and the main characters are girls, I very much related to this amazingly accurate portrayal of what it's like to move to New York to "begin your life". It deals so well with the divide between what you want/expect and what the real world is actually like. The visuals are great and the many of the characters are downright hilarious! I have recommended Not Waving But Drowning to many people and they are never disappointed. I am eagerly awaiting the next film by this fabulous young writer/director Devyn Waitt!!!
