Audience Member A young Kurt Russell in another one of his early television flicks This one is from the Walt Disney company This one focuses on Dexter Riley who is a science student at Medfield College The students are eager to make something to win the Forsythe award Inspired by a Russian scientist from the 1800s Dexter inadvertently invents a liquid capable of rendering objects and people invisible (with the help of a lightning stroke for good measure) But before Dexter and his friends, Debbie and Richard Schuyler (Michael McGreevey), can even enjoy their spectacular discovery, corrupt businessman A.J. Arno (Cesar Romero) plots to get his greedy hands on it Slapstick hijinks ensue as Dexter and his pals try to thwart the evil Arno before he can use the invisibility spray to rob a bank These are pretty impressive effects for the time with all kinds of wire work moving objects to make the illusion of being invisible There's wacky music and some funny physical gags to boot One scene in particular could've been cut but the pride is fun in itself Plenty for viewers young and old to enjoy Very playful antics thanks to the filmmakers keeping it as clean entertainment for all I got a few worthy giggles out of this one plus Russell and the late Caesar Romero are likable players Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Steve D Russell is all it has going for it. LOL. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review r 9 Just as good as its predecessor, perhaps even slightly better in moments. All in all I narrowly prefer 'The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes', but 'Now You See Him, Now You Don't' most certainly still produces solid fun. Everything revolves around invisibility this time, the stuff that Dexter & Co. get up to is suitably entertaining. Kurt Russell reprises the role of Dexter, again positively - no surprise he went on to become such a well known star. Cesar Romero is also good for a second film running, as Arlo. Joe Flynn gets a bigger part as Higgins this time, he's definitely better in this production. For the majority I felt it was superior to the 1969 original, but the third act drags ever so slightly to the point it brings it back down on a similar footing. Still, this is Disney's best live-action sequel up until this point - way more enjoyable than 'Son of Flubber' or 'Savage Sam', among others. Can they make it a hat-trick of fine films with the other sequel in 'The Strongest Man in the World'? Hope so! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member All three of these movies consecutively was a bit much. The characters you're supposed to like are likeable and Kurt Russell will always be awesome, but the movies are a little too formulaic to stand up against modern binge viewing methods. Disney putting the movies out of order in the package set did them no favors as everything was just a little off. I liked the first installment for having a worthy moral involved, but this one felt the most modern of the three and that won it some points. Maybe I actually rated the third one higher than I would have if I'd already seen the other two as it was definitely the least enjoyable. But these are cute movies and I'm sure I would've watched them repeatedly as a kid. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/18 Full Review Read all reviews
