Audience Member Filmfest DC, 4/8/11. From this film, the first international feature from Greenland, you get a deep feeling of what life is like for the 56,000 inhabitants of the largest non-continental island on earth. But the story is a very personal one about a man facing his own mortality and past. The fragility and impermanence of life is dealt with against the beautiful but uncompromising backdrop of the subarctic wilderness. Director Torben Bech commented that the film highlights the stoic nature of Greenlandic culture. This is not a film of words, but of haunting images.
