Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online It's a shame that its poor editing inhibits what could have been a memorable movie. Rated: C+ Sep 7, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire Here's the trouble with mainstream science fiction filmmaking these days: there's no expectation that an audience is capable of putting things together or waiting for a payoff. But director Joseph Kosinski, adapting his own graphic novel, sure knows how to make it look beautiful and evocative. Bigbrain D Cool visual, cool setting can be a snooze fest at times Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Christian K There are definitely some decent sci-fi visuals but this just goes nowhere and it gets there slowly. Cruise is not at his best in a fake plane and and with CG drone enemies. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Dave B What a waste of actors and material. So many potentially interesting stories there that weren't fleshed out. NYC post apocalypse. A clone war. The clones, apparently, becoming more human. We're barely informed about all this but piece together that it happened. We're informed about being atop the empire state building after being shown an unrecognizable structure that was the top of the tower. Why not do that in reverse so the audience can awe in the site of what they know they're looking at? What's with the blink-and-miss post apocalypse statue of liberty arm? How do you not give that more attention? Does Julia just give it up for every clone? That seems to have insane implications. And if compassionate clones can have kids, wouldnt the world be filling up with them? The Adam and Eve implications with the endless jack/vika pairings seem obvious. The way Morgan Freeman goes out is so odd and uninspired. Its an Independence Day ripoff at best. And what's the plan w all the new clones? At the narration ending, by a clone who thinks he's not a clone, there's a comment about the war ending. But what we watched in no way looked like a war. And what happened to his vika? Do all jacks leave all vikas for one Julia? It so ridiculous. You feel like the writers saw what they created, realized all their mistakes, and immediately made the-edge-of-tomorrow. A movie with some similar concepts but executed much better. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review David E Tom Cruise has made many action films, even Sci-Fi action, that are better than this one, but the mystery involved at the heart of the movie that is not revealed until midway was compelling, the visuals are fantastic, and Tom Cruise gives a great performance. It kind of ripped off elements of other Sci-Fis, especially the Matrix, but it kept my attention the whole way and it has an ending that makes you feel like you didn't waste your 2 hours. Good movie, not great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review Robert B Wow I mean if you appreciate good writing, engrossing story, and good characters this..this is something else😂. I'll give it this: The story keeps moving and the CGI is pretty believable. Now the detractions: Nothing's all that well done, reveals are anticlimactic and half baked, and the only reason anyone watched is because it stars Tom Cruise. Summary: It's not a bad watch after a couple beers mixed ever so delicately with an immutable appetite for anything sci-fi, on the rocks of course. Enjoy! I dare you🤪. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Peter P must see. one of tom cruise’s best. exciting adventure that is repeat-watchable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Read all reviews
